This is the place where I'm going

There is a place somewhere in the world where if you're 40 and you are considered old and soon to die, where more than one third of the population can not read or write, which gained independence just 37 years ago but not before been plundered and brutally subjected not only economically and politically but also culturally, being forced to change their customs and ancestral wealth by something completely alien to them, had a civil war that ended 16 years ago just 10 years but leave their mark not only spatially but also in people mostly innocent had to pay the price of a conflict of interest.
Even if a country that bases its development mainly in mining and agricultural accumulates 30% of its population in cities that do not yet have the capacity to take all its inhabitants including ensuring public services, job opportunities and education or at least the right to live in a place free of debris and pests. So 45% of land in this place has agricultural potential and is mostly subsistence, its inhabitants still take advantage of this potential. This place is extracting wood from their native forests without knowing that in this case the cure is worse than the disease and that the real cost is going to be paid by the next generations, their ability to move and use their land is limited by the existence of landmines. This place has more than 10% of its population infected with AIDS.
But this place is getting to know the multiparty system and access to democracy is winning small battles against AIDS and opportunistic infections that threaten every day. This place is proud of its beaches contrast with its mountains, its rivers and savannas. This place is starting to build infraestructure and cities on the ruins of war and colonialism.
It also is beginning to develop agricultural products to feed its population and trade, which can be seen even in major cities, is developing fishing and exploitation of minerals and metals. It's starting to develop an industry especially focused on snuff and drinks that will inevitably have encouraged the development of roads, trains and power supply.
This place is realizing that foreigners are going to extract not only wealth but also can invest and pay through tourism, is starting to show its landscapes and its natural parks to the world. Now with the new constitution with only 8 years old is beginning to ensure basic rights and duties of citizens including freedom of expression and protection of native languages declared cultural heritage.
This place has people who forget, forgive and is willing to face the future with different eyes, to fight peaceful battles to achieve development: this is Mozambique.
